¡Hola! I'm Chelsea Thompson, a native-level Spanish speaker and a passionate, dedicated Spanish language instructor with a Bachelor's Degree in Spanish with a concentration in Spanish Language, Linguistics and Teaching, as well as a Master's degree in Spanish Linguistics from the University at Albany.
I’m a mixed-race Jamaican woman of Indo- and Afro-Caribbean heritage, with partial Spanish ancestry from Jamaica’s early history. Though I didn’t grow up with Spanish-speaking family, I was immersed in Caribbean Latino culture from a young age, reflecting my lived experience as a heritage speaker of Spanish — a language I relearned to native-level fluency between the ages of 12 and 14. My work bridges cultures and helps others learn Spanish through a Caribbean lens that celebrates our diverse heritage.
Moreover, I also have years of experience teaching and tutoring students at all levels and I specialize in making Spanish learning accessible, engaging, and effective for beginners.
My academic background in linguistics allows me to break down complex concepts in a clear and concise way, ensuring that you build a strong foundation in both language skills and cultural understanding. Whether you're starting from scratch or looking to brush up on the basics, I offer a structured, supportive learning experience tailored to your unique pace and goals.
Join me on a journey to mastering Spanish and unlocking new opportunities for communication, travel, and connection. With my expertise, you'll gain the confidence and skills to speak Spanish with ease!
